Hi, I’m Jane.

I am a person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist. I believe that we are each our own expert, and that the therapeutic relationship helps us to connect with the many parts of ourselves…gaining a deeper understanding of our emotions and our responses to the world around us. You may have a specific reason to want to be in therapy now, perhaps you have been struggling with a difficult situation for some time and need to talk about it or maybe you don’t know the exact reason but might be feeling stuck or frozen and unable to recognise the person you have become.

I would like to offer you a safe space to express yourself freely and honestly, even if you can’t find the right words to begin with:  we can explore this together without judgement and your experiences will be acknowledged and validated. We can work at your pace.

My background, for over twenty years had been working alongside vulnerable young people who had suffered deep trauma in their childhood and early adulthood. This work, as well as being in therapy myself is what led to me becoming a counsellor. I have also worked for six years as a volunteer therapist for a charity in Sheffield offering long term counselling. It’s never too late to give ourselves the gift of therapy, no matter what age, to develop a deeper understanding of ourselves so that we can try to live as authentically as possible. It can be difficult to feel that we deserve to take some time out for emotional reflection, and we often don’t prioritise this. I know this from my own experience too! I would be happy to arrange an initial session with you so that we can get a good idea of how we might work together and what that feels like for both of us. No obligations!

You can choose to bring whatever you wish to your therapy sessions and it will be met with warmth and acceptance. Here are some examples of what I have been working with:

  • Anxiety

  • Childhood trauma

  • Confidence

  • Decision making

  • Domestic abuse

  • Emotional abuse

  • Gender and sexuality

  • Health conditions (both mental and physical)

  • Life changes

  • Loss and regret

  • Menopause

  • Relationship struggles

  • Self-harm

  • Sexual abuse

  • Stress and burnoutContact me on: JaneR-psychotherapy@outlook.com if you would like to book an initial session or arrange to have a free 10 minute phonecall.

I offer weekly and fortnightly sessions with planned breaks and this work can be short term or long term but will be regularly reviewed. My fees are for a full hour: £25 for the initial session and £50 for sessions thereafter.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework and attend regular supervision.

Thanks for reading, I hope to make contact with you soon,

Warm regards,

Jane
